My sister and I regularly meet up for a Monday evening walk and tonight was one out of the box. A lovely spring evening, warm and mild, no wind. The walk was a nice wind down after work.
We usually meet half way between our houses, that usually means meeting at the Auckland domain. Its a lovely place to walk around and through, the gardens are a sight to behold and there are so many lovely big trees and off road tracks to meander through. There is always something happening at the Domain, different sports being played depending on the season, runners, walkers, and of course people sitting, just enjoying the ambiance of the park. Tonight, a couple are getting their wedding photos taken in and around the roots of a magnificant Morton Bay Fig. A great backdrop for them.
Tonight we had a surprise, as we come round the museum, there before us are all these crosses. It was amazing and very breath-taking to see all tosee crosses lined up across the field. We found out later the crosses were in remberance of Armistice day. The crosses were a field of remberance with over 18,000 crosses and were set up to honour those who lost their lives in World War 1.
So when you are out and about, you never know what you are going to find and of course, another fabulous catch up with my sister, plus a great way to get out and enjoy this beautiful world we live in.
