Getting Started

My horoscopes told me today that "I needed to be more motivated with my exercise routine. Now is the perfect time to establish healthy habits for the coming year."

This, of course, could be true for all of us at this time of year. If you want to be successful with your fitness routine as a starting point you should make a plan and stick at it. Find a time of day that works for you, in the morning, your lunch break or in the evening, stick to whichever works best for you. Remember this is about you and your health, its about creating good habits and sticking to them. It takes 21 days to make a habit, so start now and stick to it. It's easy to say "I'm too busy" or I'll do it later", later will never come - do it now.

If you are like me and over-indulge over the festive season, then this is a good time to start good habits. In New Zealand its summer time over Christmas and New Year, we usually combine our Christmas feasting with some sort of outdoor activity, a family walk, swim at the beach or a family backyard cricket game. At this time of year, it usually some sort of activity that the family can participate in. .

Whether you exercise on your own or with family and friends, its great to get out and about and do something that improves your health and well-being.
