Outstanding views, lucious bush and the amazing Pohutakawa tree withstanding the elements are all part of what makes up this amazing walk.
Although the instructions say this walk starts along the beach, it is really not clear where the start or how far along the beach you need to go. To get to the start of the track walk about 5-7 minutes along the beach then you will get to a sign that will take you up to the track. About 15 minutes into the walk there is a great lookout that is worth stopping at and taking in the views.
The track is easy walking and well established. Lots of lovely beach and bush views. I loved the Pohutakawa trees along the way, the way they grow and the shapes they develop into. Most of the trees in this area are wind blown and the branches have developed onto the some sort of wild ferral things, drooping and sagging into current their landing place.
Don't forgot to check the tide timetable as the return trip along the beach is only accessed at low-medium tide and definately not at high tide. There are a lot of steps to go back up if you get it wrong. The section of the track at the far end of the beach when you come down from the cliff edge is very rocky and as a lot of it is volcanic, it is very sharp.
You need to take extra care when walking this section. Take your time and enjoy the views and your stroll back along the beach.
