Its summertime in New Zealand so its pretty easy to get out and about and enjoy the great outdoors. In fact when I was out today, it was almost too hot. The sun was out in full force and was so hot it was reflecting off the gravel. So should I walk in the heat?
If you are going to do a multi day hike or some other time of event, you never know what the weather will be like on the day of your event, so you need to be able to cope with whatever Mother Nature throws at you. Be it sun, rain, wind. You just need to be prepared. If its wet, you wear a rain jacket, so if it sunny, you need to make sure you hydrate. Personally for me to hydrate, I prefer water or coconut water. There are lots of sports drinks out there, but if you prefer you could make your own, here is a recipe that I have used before.
1 cup 100% organic juice of your choice (I like to use pomegranate/ cherry)
1 cup of organic coconut water
1 teaspoon of honey or pure maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Toss all ingredients in a blender and mix well. Enjoy chilled or over ice.
No matter whether you decide to head out for 30 minutes or longer, it always nice to get out and enjoy what we have right in front of us. Don't forget to stop and enjoy.
